Another fine group of young people are starting their project this morning, a nice looking window seat. Redmond Machinery of Newnan, GA, has supported the Tennessee SkillsUSA cabinetmaking competition with two new SawStop table saws and multiple Bosch power hand tools. It’s amazing to this observer how different each state contest presents itself to the contestants. In large part, I suspect, this accounts for the wide variations in skill levels which show up at the National Competition in Kansas City. There is a LOT we at AWI could do to support these programs and make them a more meaningful experience for both the advisers and the students. It’s a privilege to stand in same space as these talented and dedicated people. From School to Work, SkillsUSA is really Champions at Work!
